MISSION
STATEMENT
The
Mission of Keep Our Kids Home is to prevent the abduction and
alienation of children
H.R.
3212 (113th):
Sean and David Goldman International Child Abduction Prevention and
Return Act of 2014 states “(13)
Federal agencies tasked with preventing international abductions
have indicated that the most effective way to stop international
child abductions is while they are in progress, rather than after
the child has been removed to a foreign destination.”
Yet, no prevention laws have been passed.
1. Family
lawyers are uneducated in abduction issues. Thus, we are starting education programs. 2. The
design of the family court is not conducive to detecting potential
abduction.
“It's
a court of equity, not a court of justice.”
“It's
not based on fact and evidence.” Dr. Miller calls this
“fundamental attribution error”.
No
appeals processNo
chance for reconsideration without “significant change in
circumstances.” 3. Judges
have no preparation to detect abduction risk. Thus, we are working with state legislatures to provide some structure. 4. Courts
don't enforce the agreements made between parents.
It's
not just abduction but the tension caused by potential abduction
(Dr. Lefkowitz)
1. A
parent who has been enabled to abduct is given carte blanche with
the children.
2. The
other condition that could occur is the victimized parent abandons
the children.
3. The
children remain in the middle of conflict, which is harmful to them.
